As long as you are a Canadian citizen or permanent resident, you can sponsor your parents or grandparents to immigrate to Canada and successfully obtain a PR Card. After meeting the conditions, you can choose to become a Canadian citizen.

But as a child, what conditions need to be met to sponsor it? What changes will be made to Canadian parent reunification in 2022?

First, in July 2021, the Canadian Immigration Service released detailed information on parental reunification, using a lottery to replace the previous "first come, first served" model. At the same time, the amount of guarantee has also been adjusted, the income standard has been reduced by 30%, and applicants can also include regular unemployment insurance benefits in this year's income. The requirements for Canadian parents or grandparents to reunite immigration for applicants are very simple, but the sponsor is required to meet the Canadian minimum income.

The requirements for the sponsor are as follows:

1. The sponsor is a Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident;

2. The sponsor must currently reside in Canada;

3. The sponsor must be at least 18 years old;

4. Sign a written guarantee agreement, promising to provide any financial assistance needed for the applicant and accompanying person for 20 years. Financial assistance for parents or grandparents will include: food, clothing, personal needs, lodging, household items, utility bills, and other health care not covered by Canada’s public health benefits, such as dental, eye care, etc.

5. The sponsor has enough income to support the parents or grandparents to live in Canada;

6. Couples can provide financial support to their spouses as joint signatories when either partner sponsors their parents.

7. The sponsor must meet the minimum income requirements:

(1) According to the number of people in  households, the sponsor`s income must meet the income requirements in the 3 years before the application, including each year during the immigration process. Income can be combined as long as the spouses are willing to co-sign.

(2) For applicants in 2021, it is required to submit the income proofs of 2018-2020 at the time of application.

Applicants can sponsor their own parents or grandparents, either directly or by adoption. If parents or grandparents are divorced, the applicant can also sponsor the spouse or common-law partner of the parents or grandparents.
