A Study Permit is a Permit issued by the IRCC when an applicant enters Canada. This permit only allows students to stay in Canada to study, not as a certificate of entry and exit. Depending on the length of study, the validity period of the study permit is different. The general study permit is valid for 4 years for undergraduates and one and a half to two years for graduate students. If the study permit expires and you still need to continue to study in Canada, you need to apply for renewal at IRCC.
"VISA" is affixed on the applicant's passport. This type of visa is a certificate for the applicant's entry and exit, and can also be called an entry and exit visa. If the applicant's Visa expires, they must apply to the IRCC for an extension of Visa before returning to their home country to visit relatives or travel to other countries. Otherwise, they may encounter the dilemma of being unable to enter Canada after returning to their home country. If the applicant leaves the country temporarily, they must also apply for a re-entry visa, otherwise they will not be allowed to return to Canada. Study permit and Visa cannot be processed at the same time. Only on the premise of guaranteeing a study permit can you apply for visa; it generally takes 5 working days to apply for a visa extension in China. At the same time, students enrolled in full-time programs can in some cases work on or off campus without a work permit.
Coming to Canada to study is another way to get a PR card. Candidates choosing to study in Canada have many options for applying for a PR card. For instance their spouse worked in a skilled job in Manitoba for 6 months. Or apply for PR through the PNP program after working in Alberta, Saskatchewan, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia for 1 year while their spouse is still in school. After graduation, students can apply for PR if they have enough points, or they can work for 1 year and apply for PR through the PNP program or the Canadian experience class.
