Queen's University is the second oldest university in Ontario. It was established under Queen Victoria's Royal Charter in 1841. It was originally a church-sponsored school and became a non-church school in 1912. In terms of academics, Queen's University has always maintained a high standard, and its biology, medicine, business, engineering, law, art and science are well-known in the world. Today, there are 15 colleges in different fields in the university, as well as several international study centers, located in Herstmonceux, East Sussex, U.K. and so on. Queen's University has made outstanding contributions in the field of world scientific research. In 2015, Professor McDonald won the Nobel Prize in Physics. The school has 15 different faculties including business, medicine, law, biology, engineering, liberal arts and science, and has established the Bader UK Learning Center. According to the 2020 Canadian Maclean's University Student Satisfaction Ranking, Queen's University ranks 3rd, and ranks 5th in the comprehensive ranking of medical and doctoral universities. According to the 2021QS World University Rankings, Queen's University ranks 9th in Canada and 246th in the world.
